About Darien Skating School
Darien Skating School Welcomes You.

Program:
Our program features various levels of skating starting with early beginner, recreational, intermediate, and advanced. We also offer an Intro to Hockey and our Beginner Hockey class which uses sticks and pucks. Our objectives are to provide a safe, fun and challenging learning program. Instruction will conform to the U.S. Figure Skating, “Learn to Skate USA”.
Students must be registered with U.S. Figure Skating. The $15.00 cost will be added to the initial enrollment fee. Each student will receive a Welcome Pack containing a Skater Record Book to track progress and record their accomplishments, a membership card and a Learn to Skate USA magazine. They will also receive a U.S. Figure Skating Certificate for each level achieved. Badges may be purchased from the Skating School.

Levels:

Snow Plow Sam 1-4:
Age 3-6. SS 1 is for the child that has not skated before. SS 2 & 3 is for the child who has some skating experience with good forward movement. SS 4 is for the skater who has forward movement .The minimum age requirement is 3 years. One parent will be allowed to skate with their child in the practice area after their class.

Basic Skills 1-6:
Age 6-15. Basic Skills levels will work with the total beginner, the skater with some experience, right up to low level jumps and spins.

Pre-Free Skate & Free Skate 1-6:
Pre-Free Skate is available to skaters that have passed Basic Skills 6 and wish to continue skating at a higher level. Free Skate 1-6 are advanced classes comprised of a variety of skating skills, jumps & spins.

Adult Class:
Classes are for adults who would like to learn to skate, improve their skills or just to enjoy family skating fun.

Hockey Boys & Girls – Intro / Advanced & Power:
The hockey portion of the program is for skaters who have completed Basic Skills Level 1. The emphasis of this program is introduction of skating skills and hockey fundamentals necessary to play, advancing to Power Hockey.
Equipment Required: Certified helmet with a cage & gloves.

Beginner Hockey:
This class is available to skaters who have passed Hockey 2. Skaters will work on shooting, passing; stick handling, skating skills & drills. This program will be held on Mondays 5:00 - 5:50. Limited to 12 skaters, cost $240.00 no discounts. Equipment Required: Certified helmet with a cage, gloves, knee & elbow pads, pants, skates & stick.
