About Us

Darien Ice House has been a pillar of the Darien Connecticut community since its founding in 1973 by Frank Cooper, Francis Grasso, W. Robert Haskell, John Nastasi, and John Vallerie, Jr. The rink is currently owned by the Romano family of Stamford and Michael Pavia, former Mayor of Stamford.

As one of the original rinks in Fairfield County, CT, Darien Ice House has hosted Olympic figure skating exhibitions, elite youth hockey programs, NHL player exhibitions, and countless other youth and high school programs. The rink is currently home to the Darien Blue Wave boys and girls high school hockey teams, as well as New Canaan Rams boys and girls high school teams. Through its partnership with the New Canaan Winter Club, Darien Ice House hosts various boys and girls travel hockey programs, as well as the Ice Cats girls travel hockey program. The Darien Skating School is a long established in-house learn-to-skate program teaching skating skills to all ages. Blueline Sports located inside the rink is open year round. They carry all major brands of hockey and lacrosse equipment and sharpen skates while you wait.

In 2016, the rink was renovated with all new ice making equipment, updated locker rooms and bathrooms, as well as a newly renovated front lobby. The Burgers + Pies restaurant offers rink customers pizza, burgers, and other menu items. Eat in, delivery or carry out is available. Public skating is very popular at the rink, and the schedule can be found on the  Calendar page.

We hope to see you at the rink!
